Welcome to Beeappy Farm

Beeappy Farm is 75 acres located in the rolling hills of West Virginia.  Larry and Jane Caswell have accepted the challenge to return the land to a sustainable farm.

Each farmer has his or her own definition of a self sustaining farm. Here at Beeappy, we believe that the farm must not only be able to cover its own expenses but also be able to reproduce its products to make a farm sustainable. We can appreciate the new breeds of plants and animals that can grow faster with less imput but still respect and value the roots of these hybrids. These nonpatented varieties need to be protected and promoted for the sake of children and a viable world.

New in 2010

Last year was an amazing year here at the farm.

Six new stalls were installed behind the house to simplify winter care for the horses.

The building housing the 60 x 95  practice area and box stalls was erected. Now comes the real work-drainage and footing.

Charles Anthony was born to Dale and Erin. William, Rebecca, and Victoria welcomed not only their new baby brother but also Daddy home from Iraq.

Get ready 2011

The February West Virginia Small Farm Conference in Morgantown, WV was inspiring.

One hillside, sans old rusting vehicles, is being left in its original state with standing hardwoods. We are putting some ramps and ginseng  in this environment and leaving them to grow. Children should have the opportunity to see plants growing to appreciate their heritage.

The blackberry patches are inching forward. This year, both tissue cultured plants and bare root plants will be tried to see which yields the better results.

Paul Caswell is now a farrier having completed his studies at Meredith Manor. He and Adawn have Hidden Dale Farm where they specialize in miniatures.
